This Is A Race: June 2007

Apparently a campaign I directed won a GOLD and SILVER at the CANNES LIONS INTERNATIONAL ADVERTISING AWARDS in France. Cannes, to be exact.

Anyway, haven't been posting much...busy or something. Going back to London tomorrow to shoot a music vid. More on that later.

When I went to London my friend and gracious host Tim took me to the opening of the ANTONY GORMLEY show at the HAYWARD GALLERY. The show was called BLIND LIGHT and it was a highlight of the trip.

The main attraction was a glass box about 25'x25' in the gallery that was filled with vaporized water and white light. We lined up around the box until we reached the entrance where they allowed 25 people in at a time. You could barely see beyond your hand but could hear everyone else in the box. It felt like you were on top of a mountain in a deep fog. It was bright and a bit difficult to breathe. I got lost in the middle and nearly bumped into a few people. Here is a little video I took inside (though I was trying to be stealth about it cause you weren't suppossed to take pictures):

There were also 30 some-odd iron-casts of people (I think of Gormley himself...?) on the tops of buildings along the river. It was quite beautiful and terrifying. Here's a video of that with appropriate theme music (which also was inspired by the guy doing parkour below the terrace):

A THORUNN BETWEEN TWO THORNS

My dearest Claire (of recent FEIST STYLING FAME) styled these photos I took while I was in London. The model (though I hate to use that word for she was much more pleasant and fun to work with than any model I've ever met) was none other than the gorgeous Thorunn from FIELDS.

HUGGABLE URNS

"My Mom has always been the best party giver ever, so, of course when my Dad found out that he only had a couple of months to live he planned his own 'Kick-the-Bucket' party."

"Boy! I have never talked to my Dad so much in my whole life as I have since he passed."

If you're more comfortable talking to a teddy bear filled with your burned-up father than a real human being, this is the urn for you!
